Curso Transitional Justice and the Colombian Post-Conflict: Colombia´s future in Peace
This course will address the institutions, processes, and mechanisms of transitional justice developed in the Peace Agreement signed between the Republic of Colombia and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) from an interdisciplinary (criminological, historical, and legal) point of view that is attentive to International Public Law as well as to other countries’ experiences. The course will be taught in English.

Objetivo General

To provide students with knowledge and critical reasoning on the institutions, mechanisms, and processes that characterize Colombia’s system of Transitional Justice.
 

Objetivos

To inform on the structure, institutions, mechanisms, and processes of the Integral System of Truth, Justice, Reparation and Guarantees of Non-Recidivism, particularly pertaining The Truth Commission, and The Special Jurisdiction for Peace. 

- From an impartial viewpoint to inform on the origins and evolution of the Colombian conflict. 

- To highlight the challenges posed by the Post- Conflict, particularly regarding criminality and recidivism, and the importance of a new paradigm for the Criminal Justice System, namely, restorative justice. 

- Raise awareness on the importance of the differential and gender approach in the inner workings of the System.

This course is designed for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as professionals from all disciplines that have an interest in Transitional Justice and Peace Processes, both in Colombia and abroad.
